Fall Semester 2009

Hi, I am Dr. Bruner, the one who will be teaching the MKTG 305 course. We will have our first class meeting on Tuesday, August 25th, at 9:35am in Lawson 141. At that time I will hand out the syllabus and discuss how the course will operate. In the meantime, you can learn about the course by checking out this site.

The first question many students ask is "what do I have to buy?" The answer in the case of this class is "nothing." In other words, if you can come to class everyday and take good notes then you are not required to buy anything. However, most students end up getting one or more of the optional materials because it helps them perform better in the course. Probably the best thing to get is the Lecture Guide, updated this past summer. It has an outline of all of the lectures I give in class. It also provides numerous review questions that are helpful to answer as part of your routine homework (non-graded) to prepare for exams. A second item you could get is the course CD, also updated this past summer. It has abbreviated versions of the Powerpoint presentations I will be making in class, test review presentations, and a copy of the Lecture Guide. The third item is a 4 disk set that has 3 DVDs and a CD (the one described already). The DVDs have videos of all of the lectures in the course. Finally, the fourth item you could consider buying is the textbook. It makes sense to get it if you are very interested in consumer behavior and want to delve deeper into topics beyond what I have time to discuss in class. As to where to get these items, the Lecture Guides and the disks are only sold in the Marketing Department (Rehn Hall, Suite 229) while the book can be found at the local bookstores and online.

So, I look forward to seeing you in class and will try to keep your interest and attention as you learn about consumer behavior. By the way, the announcements change every week (usually on Friday afternoons) and it's a good idea to read them. I will try to send them to you via e-mail as well if it is correctly shown in Blackboard.
