The Week of Sept. 27st
On Tuesday we will have the first exam of the semester in this course. Here are my suggestions for studying. First, make sure you have all of the lecture notes. If you were not in class to get them then consider looking at the presentations on the DVD or CD. (You can still get the CD and the DVD MegaPack from the Marketing Department.) Second, answer all of the review questions listed in the Lecture Guide. Third, run the review presentation (available on the CD and here at the website). Fourth, take the Practice Test a time or two within Blackboard. Keep in mind that the Practice Test questions are just examples of the kinds of questions you will be asked on the real exam. Don't assume that if you get them all correct that you will also make an A on the exam; they aren't the actual questions you'll get nor do they cover everything you need to know.
The exam itself will be given at the regular class time in our normal room. It will have 60 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of one hour. You are not allowed to use any electronic device of your own (including cell phones and calculators) during the exam. We will bring calculators for you to use. Also, you are not allowed to leave the classroom during the test and then return.
I expect that you will be able to check your scores within Blackboard by Wednesday. We also expect that you will be able see your error analysis within Blackboard. (In fact, your error analysis may get posted faster than your exam score itself.) If you are interested, you can also print out your error analysis and come look at the test in my office during my posted office hours. Comparing your error analysis to the test tends to answer most questions that people have.
